High Quality, Long Lasting WoodturningTools from Henry Taylor Tools Ltd of Sheffield UK
Cutting abrasive woods at high speed concentrates a lot of wear at one small spot on the tool's cutting edge, which can get very hot. In these conditions carbon steel tools soften and dull very quickly and require repeated grinding to maintain a sharp edge. High Speed Steels which are more expensive have been developed over many years for cutting tools that must resist abrasion and the high edge temperatures caused by friction. A sharpened edge on a high speed steel turning tool will last many times longer than its equivalent in carbon steel, thus far less time is wasted in regrinding and the life of the tool is prolonged. Also the heat resistant nature of high speed steel reduces the danger of accidentally drawing the temper of the steel during grinding.
In 1978 Henry Taylor Tools was the market leader in the UK as the first Company to make turning tools from High Speed Steel. Henry Taylor Tools manufacture an extensive range of 170 High Speed steel turning tools which are available in various shapes and sizes - Beech handles also available.
